A few thoughts about the "pirated-DVDs-sniffing dogs with a bounty on their heads". If they can't tell the difference between a legit DVD and a pirate DVD, what's the point, really? If I were in the biz of pirating, I'd just throw around a gazillion of the AOL / Earthlink CDs and watch 'em chase their tails around the neighborhood.
